Hauraki Gulf No.2

Project completed July ‘25.

Architect: Richard Archbold
Landscaper: Wootten Group

Project Description:

A small island in the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland. The island inhabitants are made up of people predominately from Auckland City, where they come to escape the city life in search for a small off grid, batch life.

The owner and architect of this property engaged with me to soften and in-bed the structure of the small dwellings built on this sloping ocean facing property. Using all native species to locate the building within the greater landscape. The site requires careful selection of coastal appropriate species, within a high wind zone, using scale and hierarchy in plants form to frame and preserve significant view shafts, while also creating privacy from bordering properties.
