About:

Creating gardens creates opportunity to design and integrate architecture, lifestyle, and nature. Designing spaces to enhance and compliment the immediate and greater landscape. When designing gardens, I believe a holistic approach is necessary to understand the site, the users and the desired function to design and build a successful and productive garden.

A pragmatic and intuitive approach to designing gardens and landscapes. Experience and background in various aspects of the landscape and horticulture industry help shape an understanding of site and its context. To understand site, climate, geography, plant life, history and the built environment is integral to creating gardens that work and function as to how the client desires. Using these parameters, striving to deliver a unique design to every site and every client.

Inspiration from simple forms, processes and emotions help to form the design approach helping to create unique, stunning, functional gardens that truly reflect the desires of the client.

How we work:

Step 1

Initial Consultation, Site Analysis & Survey
  • Meet with clients to discuss their vision, preferences, and budget.
  • Conduct a site analysis, assessing factors like soil conditions, topography, climate, existing vegetation, and drainage.
  • Perform a site survey to accurately measure boundaries, levels, and any key structural elements.
  • Gather relevant planning regulations, zoning requirements, and environmental restrictions.
  • Present preliminary thoughts on design feasibility and potential challenges.

Step 2

Concept Proposal
  • Develop initial concept proposal presentation and layout ideas based on site analysis and client preferences.
  • Explore materiality, planting themes, and functional elements (e.g., pathways, swimming pool, seating areas).
  • Present 3D digital renders and reference images to visually showcase the design direction.
  • Provide a full planting plan and associated planting schedule based on initial concept proposal.
  • Discuss the proposed layout with clients, refining ideas based on their feedback.
  • Provide a preliminary cost estimate to align expectations with the budget.

Step 3

Detailed Design Development
  • Create scaled drawings that detail planting schemes, hardscape structures, irrigation, lighting, and finishes.
  • Specify materials, plant selections, and construction techniques to ensure longevity and
  • Address technical considerations such as drainage, access routes, and sustainability measures.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors as needed.
  • Finalize documentation for council approvals if required.

Step 4

Project Supervision & Management
  • Oversee the project’s construction phase, ensuring contractors adhere to design specifications and timelines.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to keep them informed on progress.
  • Conduct site inspections to address any challenges and ensure quality control.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and resolve logistical issues.
  • Provide final walkthroughs and post-installation guidance for ongoing maintenance.
